Dorothy Jacobs

Dorothy Jacobs is a Senior Designer at PORT, where she contributes to landscape architecture, urban design, and resiliency planning projects. Her design approach integrates ecological sustainability with human-centered experiences, focusing on planting design, stormwater management, and community-driven public spaces. Dorothy’s work emphasizes transforming underutilized sites into accessible, vibrant environments.
Before joining PORT, Dorothy worked at Andropogon Associates, where she contributed to award-winning public realm and environmental restoration projects. Her experience includes master planning, site design, and detailed planting strategies for ecological and cultural landscapes. Her background in writing and teaching complements her design practice, bringing a thoughtful and research-driven approach to every project.
Dorothy holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned the Faculty Design Process Award; and a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Minor in Studio Art from the University of Richmond, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During her time as a design intern with PEG Office of Landscape Architecture, her project “Fantasy Island: The Galápagos Archipelago,” earned the ASLA Honor Award and WLA Honorable Mention in Analysis and Planning. Dorothy has taught design courses at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also served as a teaching assistant in stormwater management and grading design.
